Testing Specialist

Salary & Benefits

$5,560 – $6,735 per month. Maximum entry level is $6,118 per month. Sick leave accrued from another California K-14 public educational agency in the State of California may be transferred to the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office. Fourteen holidays are observed as paid days each fiscal year. Generous vacation and sick leave benefits are provided. Prepaid medical, dental, vision, and counseling plans provided for employee and family. Prepaid life insurance policy provided for the employee. Employees of this office are not covered by Social Security, but do have mandatory retirement coverage with Public Employees Retirement System (PERS).

Responsibilities

  • Will work as a technical team member contributing to a wide variety of tasks necessary to ensure quality standards for SRRTS, the CSIS software.
  • Perform and coordinate test activities among the CSIS staff and manage the testing results.
  • Create and maintain test data sets; create and maintain Test Plans.
  • Translate software requirements into test cases.
  • Ensure CSIS quality standards by performing testing of new versions of the CSIS Client and Server software.
  • Document test results and create status reports on testing status.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited two year college or university with a major in computer science, information technologies, or related field.
  • Work experience resulting in an equivalent knowledge base may be substituted for the major requirement.
  • Minimum of three years experience in technical support and/or acceptance test development.
  • Experience building test plans and using scripts to validate software quality.
  • Experience with PC and MAC platforms
  • Ability to perform excellent diagnostic and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively work on concurrent tasks and with multiple entities.

Each Candidate’s application papers will be thoroughly evaluated and ranked by a screening committee appointed by the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office. Candidates achieving a rating of 70% or better will qualify to continue in the eligibility screening process with an interview scheduled on June 6, 2012. Interviews will be held at the California School Information Services Office, 770 L Street, Ste. 1120, Sacramento, CA 95814.

Conditions of Employment

​Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator’s license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. This position is overtime exempt and has a probationary period of one year.
